What is the Rebelleon?

The Rebelleon is for those who want to help fight against mental health stigma and for better mental health care and awareness for young women, femmes and non-binaries.

By becoming a Rebelle you become a vital figure in our movement fighting for better mental health treatment and awareness for young women, femmes and non-binaries around the world. Our aim is to create a Rebelleon so powerful, that not only will we foster the creativity and confidence in thousands of young women and femmes around the world, but that their voices will help us directly influence and implement policy regarding mental health issues.

We do not take this lightly: our mission is huge. We need women, femmes and NBs to speak out and add their voice to the statistics which ignore and overlook them. Women are currently the centre of what doctors are calling a mental health epidemic. 75% of mental illnesses develop in young girls before the age of eighteen. We need the government to stop focussing on putting out fires and start concentrating on prevent them. Immense changes need to happen in the medical, educational, political and social care systems and we need the statistics to bring this to light. Every reader and contributor helps us make a change in this world; a diverse, dynamic and fierce Rebelle army is needed to fight the systems we face when tackling mental illness.

Not only that but the Rebelleon is a community: we are artists, writers, poets, academics, activists, bloggers, entrepreneurs, speakers, and actors who all have experienced mental health struggles and life changing experiences. We’re a support unit of creatives here for one another and for those unable to speak up for themselves right now. So, has that convinced you to take the pledge?
